JOIN AN HPA COMMITTEE

JOB BANK COMMITTEE

The Job Bank Committee serves as a liaison between prospective employers and HPA members, tracks and maintains market trends affecting the profession.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

The Membership Committee processes applications and renewals, maintains a membership list and recruits new members.

NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE

The Newsletter Committee publishes and distributes the quarterly Hawaii Paralegal Reporter. It contains news of HPA activities, trends in the paralegal profession, and educational resource material.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Professional Development Committee arranges educational seminars and general membership meetings and facilitates practice groups.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

The Public Relations Committee disseminates promotional material designed to attract public interest or recognition for HPA, and serves as a liaison with the media. Currently the Public Relations Committee comprises three subcommittees: the Fund Raising Committee, the Web Site Committee, and the Advertising Committee. The Fund Raising Committee organizes and conducts all HPA fundraising events. The Website Committee works on all matters concerning the HPA website. The Advertising committee works on all advertising in HPA's newsletter, directory, and web site.

PRO BONO COMMITTEE

The Pro Bono Committee promotes member participation in pro bono and fund raising projects, functioning as a liaison with law organizations and other groups or entities that utilize paralegals in pro bono services. Currently the Pro Bono Committee comprises two subcommittees: the Legal Line Law Week Committee and the Legal Line Wednesday Night Committee. The Legal Line Law Week Committee participates each May, during Law Week, with the HSBA shopping mall clinics wherein free legal information is provided to the public at seven Oahu shopping malls. The Legal Line Wednesday Night Committee assists weekly, at the HSBA, with the HSBA's Legal Line public service project, providing free legal information by telephone to the public.

STANDARDS COMMITTEE

The Standards Committee researches matters affecting the paralegal profession, and makes recommendations for Board approval. Such matters include accreditation, certification, licensure, and ethics.

BOARD ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Board Advisory Council advises the HPA Board of Directors on various matters as deemed necessary by the Board. Advisors to the Board Advisory Council are appointed by the Board of Directors as deemed necessary by the Board.
